This past month, I spoke at CPOSC 2019 on “How close are we to human level AI”. I covered a few topics like computing efficiency with a head to head comparison of Alpha Go vs Lee Sedol and creating artificial muscle fibers.
What really got people going was my phrase, “There are too many computer scientists in AI.”
Quite frankly, there are simply too many.
AI has become synonymous computer engineering, but it is also the realm of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Golems, the Greek Talos, and anywhere else the breath of God create something from inanimate clay.
I spent a long time discussing Baudrillard’s Simulacra and Simulation and how that stands in contrast to depth psychology and what kind of solutions it may offer. I touched on alchemy, individuation, and Nietzche’s Superman.
I’m pretty proud of this talk, it took awhile to bring it all together. If you just want to watch, check it out!
